Book Week 2017 at Britannica has been a huge success, filled with activities and fun as pupils, teachers and parents celebrated their love of books!

On day one, teachers talked about their favourite books, pupils read to different classes, students were given the opportunity to explore global literature, and classes investigated the science behind Sci-Fi novels! Author Jan Latta also visited Britannica and pupils really enjoyed listening to her talk about all the animals she’d seen and photographed. On day two, pupils enjoyed a performance of the fable, ‘The Mouse and the Lion’ by Year 9 pupils! There were also Drama lessons and a special visit to Britannica’s Nursery. On day three, the Book Fair began and the author Rob Lloyd Jones visited Britannica to talk about his books. Classes focused upon the writing process and Rob was incredibly impressed with all of our students. Our final day of Book Week began with a fancy dress parade on the school field. Pupils, staff and parents all enjoyed seeing the children dressed as their favourite book characters. Pupils also performed songs and poems in assembly and received prizes. Finally, the week ended with pupils celebrating in their class rooms, which had been specially decorated for Book Week. Britannica would like to thank everyone involved for making Book Week a huge success!
