This year, Britannica welcomed the year of the rooster with two days of celebrations and cultural activities. Students across the school prepared a range of exciting and dynamic performances. Britannica was decorated in red to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Activities began with Chinese New Year Assemblies, which parents and families were delighted to attend. Students performed colourful traditional Chinese dances, dragon dances, played drums, sang, gave poetry recitals and performed Kung Fu for the audience. The second day of celebrations kicked-off with a Dragon dance, which was followed by a waist-drums performance by a local community group. Everyone was extremely proud of the hard work by Britannica’s students, who will remember the day for a long time. Events were organised by Britannica’s Mandarin Department. By welcoming the year of the rooster, Britannica’s students gained a greater understanding of Chinese culture, tradition and customs, while celebrating this important time of year.
