Six Cranleigh pupils are to work with two extraordinary sporting ambassadors - double Olympic Gold Medallist, Dame Kelly Holmes and former South African international rugby star, Thinus Delport - as part of the Daman Future Champions 2017/ 18 programme.

The prestigious programme was launched last Thursday evening here in Abu Dhabi and pupils were blown away by the message these former athletes delivered. Motivated by the speeches, our pupils worked alongside fellow students from across Abu Dhabi to formulate the five key values that this year’s programme will instil in all participants: Passion, Ambition, Perseverance, Sportsmanship & Inner Strength. The programme will be delivered using partnerships with world-class local and international sporting organisations, Daman brand ambassadors and best-in-class media and health organisations across a number of sporting disciplines. The programme is designed to support the participants in gaining skills and qualities that will encourage and enhance performance in their sport, their personal and academic lives. Following the launch, pupils attended their first clinic today at Zayed Cricket Stadium, where both Thinus and Dame Kelly put them through their paces, coaching them through different sporting activities whilst working on the core values through team building and problem solving activities. A truly memorable experience for all six Cranleigh students, and the first of many they will experience this year! The programme's Facebook group will be kept updated during the year. It is called ‘Daman Future Champions 2017-18’.
