School description

In our Early Childhood Education (ECE) programme, students aged 6 months to 5 years begin their lifelong learning journeys. The nurturing, play-based and multicultural environment that our dynamic Kindergarten Co-Teachers and classrooms provide ensures that each young learner’s unique interests and curiosities flourish. By offering children a high-quality and engaging education starting in Kindergarten, YCIS helps children discover the joy of learning through a child-centred approach in a bilingual environment.

YCIS’s International Primary school curriculum is based on the framework of the National Curriculum for England with the added benefit of an extensive Chinese Language and Culture Programme, as well as the school’s Character Education Programme. In our Primary Section, the western class teacher and the Chinese language teacher co-teach lessons on Life Education, Chinese Studies and Library during the week. The Co-Teachers plan these lessons together to create a bilingual teaching and learning environment. They share equal authority in the classroom, and together they plan and implement a section of the timetable that provide students with a multicultural environment.

At YCIS, our Secondary programme enables all students to reach for and fulfil their highest academic potential in conjunction with their spiritual, social, moral, cultural, physical and creative development. The aim of the YCIS Secondary curriculum is to ensure that all students are provided with opportunities to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible global citizens, and caring contributors, ready for their futures ahead. Students take IGCSE courses in Years 10 - 11 and conclude with the IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 - 13.
