Education in JAPAN
A fascinating insight into the Japanese education system...
The school offers a quality education to students of all nationalities and religious beliefs, from pre-K (Montessori) through high school. Apart from academic success, the school is noted for the pastoral care/well-being of its students. Students are provided with a balanced all-round education through participating in a range of sporting and fine art activities, such as the renowned band, orchestra, and choir, as well as robotics and other cultural activities. At the request of parents, Catholic students are prepared for 1st Holy Communion, and Confirmation. In keeping with the pioneering spirit of its founders and commitment to education as a life-long pursuit, the school continues to implement innovative programs to meet community needs, such as the establishment of an Elementary French School, a thriving Adult Enrichment Program for parents and community members, and a ‘Toddlers Group’. Situated in the historical residential area of Yokohama, Saint Maur is well serviced by public transportation. Apart from classrooms, it has a state-of-the-art Fine Arts Center, which houses a chapel, auditorium, music and art rooms/studios; a dedicated Science Center; a full-size gymnasium; computer and robotic labs; a library; a cafeteria; an outdoor sports facility; and outdoor and indoor play areas, which enhance student learning and recreation. We offer the following curricular programs: Montessori Pre-School; International Primary Curriculum (IPC); French National Curriculum (Grades 1-5); International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE); and International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP).
